Earlier in the week, we watched a documentary about women. Not how women are being objectified by society. Through society's eyes women are seen as objects, and less than men. One of the biggest supporters of the degrading of women is the internet. The internet only showcases women of a skinny figure. From the documentary technology has made more of an impact on the new generations; therefore enforcing the vision of "women need to look like this" at a young age. Several young girls and women have experienced traumatic events in their lives where they are being put down by not only men but other women. Pain from both genders, the internet, and etc. results in self harm which could end up fatal in some attempts. Only through changing the eyes through the internet can we have hope of changing the eyes of the world.
I agree! Women are expected to has this specific, unrealistic body type. This only causes problems or worsens existing ones for growing girls whose minds are not fully developed and are influenced by all of the people around them, of which hold this high expectation.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree. One of the biggest hitters especially as a teen growing up is body image, which is popular among many girls today. And the issues are often implemented by the media, because we are constantly shown what an "ideal" body should look like.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Being a teenage girls consists of many ups and downs caused by depictions of self worth and unrealistic beauty standards seen all over the internet. These ideas about how women are supposed to look and act, cause problems for teenage viewers resulting in depression, mental illness, and even suicidal thoughts and actions. I believe we need to change these ideas and images we see all over the media to make a happier and safer environment for young girls.
